Replacement product when product is no longer available

Hello,

My customer manages a spare part store, This means that articles become unavailable, and are replaced by other products. How can link the replacement part to the original so when a customer searches (through the specific part ID) for a specific part he finds the new product and not the original which is not available anymore.

Thanks, but that was not the answer I was looking for. I need a way automatically give me the new product that the other product replaces.

So example:

• product 1 with part number: 01245746 is not available anymore and therefore out-ot-stock
• product 2 with part number: 01245747 is the new model

When a customer searches for 01245746 (first product, and customers search by part number) he should get 01245747
