Firefox Image Problem

I just tried installing PrestaShop locally on my machine, but experienced some problems. I use the XAMPP package (http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-windows.html) which is basically a distribution containing pre-configured Apache, PHP (5.3.1), MySQL and Perl services. I extracted the contents of the most current PrestaShop package into the htdocs folder and noticed that after (and even during) the installation of the script, Firefox does not display any images on the pages, but Internet Explorer does. How can I get PrestaShop to display its images correctly on my installation when using Firefox? Is this a known issue?
