elund
I am fighting with a mysteriuos problem, that appers when i add a couple of stringing machines into the cart.TECHNICAL ERROR: unable to add product (see image attachment). After this it is not possible to delete any items in the cart. ERROR: unable to delete product. When I go to check out I maybe get a hint that I can use. Fatal error: “no default carrier”.I had no default carrier for pacages above 20 kg and added it without any effect.I have not been able to systematize the error yet,but the stringing machines weighs above 20 kg and you have to put more than one machine into cart.(It does not help to delete cart before you add another machine into the cart)I have lost orders on this error, so it is my most frustrating error I ever have had with PrestaShop.Any hints before I go debugging?I have checked this solution here: http://nerdia.net/2010/11/16/prestashop-module-technical-error/. tomerg3
Do you get the same error if you don't use the AJAX cart?It usually means that some files were modified and are returning an error, or extra text (even a leftover "print") in one of the class files that are used will return that error
elund
Thanks for your reply :-) I think it has narrowed down the problem. If I disable the Ajax cart I don't get the error: "unable to add product".But I still got the error: "no default carrier". So I actually have to different problems.Regarding the Ajax cart error it doesn't look to be the single quote problem as referred to here:http://www.prestashop.com/forums/viewthread/65607/installing_prestashop/unable_to_add_productI have tried to add his code and to remove the single quote form the name of the product. elund
After further investigation the “no default carrier” error seems to be my real problem.“unable to add product” is just a consequential error.Would be nice if it was possible to choose two different default carriers:One for 0 - 20 kg and one for packages above 20 kg. Snax
I had the same issue when adding a product to the cart, testing in both Chrome and Firefox. I tried both PrestaShop 1.4.7 and 1.4.4.1 as recommended by support, but both had the same issue. I then tried disabling Ajax cart via Modules -> Front Office Features -> Cart Block -> configure, although that just displayed Fatal error: "no default carrier" message... but that was a nice hint! Secondly, I checked my default carrier under Shipping -> Carriers. There was in fact a default carrier set for "Pick up in-store", but just in case I added a new one to test and set it as default, which appears to have resolved the problem. I re-enabled Ajax too and get the nice little animation when adding products to the cart and it seems to work fine with Ajax cart enabled. rkasselman
Snax, Most helpful answer so far. The Ajax cart is nice, but disabling it via the method you describe is exactly what is needed to make the shop just "work".
