How to separated the image small size?

I don't know how to separated image. I don't know how to do this. Could someone help me?

I check Prestashop demo: They use white back ground for image and have small white around image. I couldn't do it for hundred image.

Please check attached image to see my meaning. My English skill is not good.

You can edit the product.tpl of the theme, and in the thumbs section. around line 118

getImageLink($product->link_rewrite, $imageIds, 'medium')}" alt="{$image.legend|htmlspecialchars}" height="{$mediumSize.height}" width="{$mediumSize.width}" />

add this

getImageLink($product->link_rewrite, $imageIds, 'medium')}" alt="{$image.legend|htmlspecialchars}" height="{$mediumSize.height}" width="{$mediumSize.width}" style="margin-right:3px"/>

where 3px is the space
