Background of Module Automatic Fit

Hi All.

I am playing with the standard theme to make my own theme - not vastly different, but enough to make more unique looking.

I wanted to change all of the module backgrounds to be the same colour as the cart background. Easy enough to copy the image and rename it - however it is a fixed size, so it does not fill the larger module backgrounds or match the gradient ratio - so I end up with light grey areas or no gradient due to smaller boxes.

Is there a way to make the background autofill the module background regardless of size via css or similar?
