Change Theme withous losing configuration

Hi, i've a Prestashop 1.6.1.9 e-commerce with the default bootstrap theme.

I would love to change the frontend design buying and installing a new theme, but i've read that after installing a new theme I will lose all modules and addon configuration.

I tried to search on Google but the only guide that explain a way to install a theme without losing the old configuration is this one: https://www.templatemonster.com/help/prestashop-1-6-x-switch-themes-without-changing-modules-settings.html

but I can't undestand if it really works and if i've I will have to set up something anyway.

 

So here's my question:

There is any way to install a new theme keeping all the theme and modules configuration?
