form action php script for sending mails

Hi guys I would appreciate some help

Im making some custom forms in cms pages calling to php scripts that send emails

but im using php function mail() so deliveries are taking too long (hardly ever come instantly, almost all of them reach the next day)

i would like to implement use of smtp but i dont know where to start with...

maybe i need to use Mail class but its hard for me since im not programmer

other solution i can see is installing php_mailer...
