Problems with image size

Hi Guys,

 

can you please help me to understand how it works the autosizing once you upload images in an specific category or product in prestashop? im using the default them but all the time i try to upload one Image in a new category or new product the size of the image is not set up correctly and in the website it doesnt show correctly:

same question for the logo is there a way that we can manually play with the size?
