How do I add a drop bar ??

I have this product for sale and it comes in 6 different colors. How do I add a drop down bar to choose a color?

1- Catalogue >> Attributes and groups, create (if not there already) the group color (attribute group) , then add required colors (attributes).
2- Catologue >> Product >> 3. Combinations, chose color (group) and the color (attribute), click add. Repeat for each color the product is available.
