Image import woes

So I've been on a couple of hours trying to get product images to import via csv file - first I tried using my product images hosted on my host's webserver. I messed about for a good while with file permissions, but no matter what I did, PS would error with problems trying to copy the files during the csv import

Next I configured my PC as a webserver & used http//:localhost/img/1.jpg etc etc .....this was more hopeful as during the import PS didn't error at all - yay.

BUT .....when I look in Catalog, Products....I see the newly imported product - but it doesn't have an image?!!!

Any ideas please?

I had to crack on so went a different way - I used the same server space that my PS website is being hosted on (therefore I uploaded all my product photos to this new host) & then linked to the jpgs in the product upload csv file) - it worked.
