Store quantity in decimals (kilogramms instead of gramms) in PrestaShop 1.6.11

Is it possible to store the quantity in decimals? We have a lot of products served in 0.5kg minimum, but the quantity can be choosen (1.12kg for example). It would be bad to store in gramms, I like to use kilogramm for quantity. Is it possible?

It's not without changing many core files as well as the database. The latter is simple. But the change of all core files involved needs quite some effort. I remember appx. 15 to 20 files need to be changed at several places.

 

Workaround to overcome the most critical limiations: Change the unit from kg to gramm or 100 gramm and set 500 or 5 as minimum quantity.

Yeah, I found that forum post - this is what I want to avoid, because it would become the nest of a horde of bugs.

I wouln't do it either. We bill customers with service hours using prestashop. We have set up the products with 1 hour and others with 1/4 hour. It's not perfect but it's good enough.

Do you mean 2 "piece" of 1/4 hour, for example? So my store of 100 kg would have 100 kg / 0.5 kg -> 200 items?

 

Anyway, as I said we sell the product in custom quantity too (1.12 kg), so it's not an opinion.

We have 1 hour at a price and 1/4 hour at another price. 3/4 hours are billed by choosing 3x the 1/4 hour. I understand this is not an option for you. It wasn't meant as such but only to show that the decimal issue can be worked around at least partially.
