Core prestashop module "Categories block" behaving strangely

Recommended Posts

How do you do. This is my first post in this forum.

I would be thankful if you can help me.

Prestashop version that I am using:

Problem summary : The core prestashop module "Categories block" behaving strangely

Problem description:

1. I have set the "Category root" to "Home category" in

"Modules and Services" -> "Categories block" -> "Configure" at my Back Office.

2. With the above configuration, when I click any category in the front office, the category block title receives the name of the category. For example, when I click the "skincare" category, the title of the block changes to "skincare" too.

* See the attached file "wrong_category_block_title"
This is obviously very odd! I want the title to remain the same (Categories) regardless of which
category I click (I have opened my site (https://goodjapanesegoods.com) so that you can have a look).
1. Changing the "Category root" to anything else is not an option as the category block disappears when I click any category. I would like to keep the category block in the left column, irrespective of where I am in the site.
2. I am presently using a custom theme, but it behaves the same way in the default theme too.
3. On this account, I have tried to change the following line in ~modules/blockcategories/blockcategories.tpl
from :
<h4 class="title_block">{if isset($currentCategory)}{$currentCategory->name|escape}{else}{l s='Categories' mod='blockcategories'}{/if}</h4>
<h4 class="title_block">{l s='Categories' mod='blockcategories'}</h4>
without any result (I have deleted my cache after doing this).
Please let me know how can I fix this problem.
Thanks in advance.
