Importing large amount of products with external url images

Hello. I'm importing large amount of products (40 000) with external url images but it takes to long to process for presta and import breakes (white screen). When I import the same file with no photos or in smaller number all works fine. I think that presta tries to download this files while import. Is it a way to tell Presta do download and process images later?

Just import everything by pieces, cut maybe to 5000 products. If that gets timeout, cut to 3000 products. When I have to import huge amount of products, I make custom import modules. And run them in terminal, or using cron jobs.
