how to form an order number before paypal check out? had a problem of received payment but no order appears in BO

Hi everyone,
does any one here know how to form an order number before paypal check out? i have a problem that the buyer make the payment but there is no order appear in the back office. if anyone can help,your help will be highly appreciated , thanks

There is many threads about paypal, you should find the solution of your problem.

Are you using paypal api module or paypal module ?

For normal paypal module :

Did you setup the IPN in the paypal website ?
change permission of ../modules/paypal/validation.php to 644 or 755

i use paypal module not the api module. i don't setup the ipn in paypal . the PS v1.1 can form a order number before check out but v1.3 does't. what i want is the order number is the same payment title as it in my paypal. because when there is many payment it is a headach to find a buyer's order in paypal.
