filter layered navigation and color attributes

I have some products. Each product has some color attributes and for each color I have assigned the corresponed image.

I am trying to figure out how I can achieve the following.

 

I have enabled the filter layered navigation for each category. When I choose a color for example blue  it displays all the products that have as an attribute the color blue. My problem is that the cover photo of these products could be of different color, so what I get  as result is a list of products and none of the look blue because their cover photo is for a different color.

 

Is it possible when I choose a color from the search filter to display the products with the corresponed photo of the color?

 

I found this module that does that

but I thought to give a try if there is other solution rather buying the module.
