[Solved] left column - no content

I seem to have lost all the cotent blocks from my left column,

have done a view sourc and it all seems to correct, but nothing is displayed.

could someone have a look and see if I am missing something obvious

ran the css through a validator and found one currpt caracheter, which stopped the column loading
