How to put products (not in a specific category) with a certain asset on sale?

Hi all,

 

I sell vegetable gardening seeds for customers in Belgium and The Netherlands on webshop www.plantana.be

 

Because seeds have a 'best use before'-date, I would like to put some products on sale that expire in 2018. I would love to start the season of 2017 with only seeds that last until 2019, so I want to put the 2018-seeds on sale now so my customers can always count on a 2-year package of seed.

 

The expiry date should not be visible to customers, but only for me in the backoffice. Also, when I have for example, 5 packages of the same seed in stock (same product), but 3 of them are 2018-seeds and 2 of them are 2019-seeds, can I "split" these in the stock? So the sale will only apply to the 2018-stock of that product?

 

Even though the splitting of the dates would not be possible (I will do this manually then), how can I apply a discount on certain products without having to put each of those products in a "sale category" manually?
