Front-end having error 505

Hi,

I am very new to prestashop and to web but my friend helped me in installing this software making my site ecom ready.

I uploaded all my products at the backend and everything was fine, but after a few days changing the friendly url to yes and generating the htaccess file, my whole site went for a toss.

Although the backend has all the products and works fine but in the frontend it is showing –

“HTTP error 505 – The website cannot display the page. Most likely causes:
•The website is under maintenance.
•The website has a programming error. “

I changed the settings back to as it was but no luck. Somebody is telling me that Host gator who is my web host has this problem with prestashop due to shared hosting.

Pls help…
