Modify blocklayered filter controller

Hi,
i need to customize the color filter controller.
I have some basic colors (Blue,Orange,Red etc.) and other colors that are combinations of two (Red/Purple, Black/Red etc.).

My color filter of Blocklayered module only shows the basic colors: if i click on one of them, the controller fetches and shows colors that show EXACTLY that color.

I want to customize the filter controller to do a fulltext search on color attributes names (not their IDs).
When i search, for example, for color "Blue" i should get every product that have a color that contains %Blue% in one of the of its color attribute names, so that i could get combinations like Blue/Red, Blue/Purple etc.

Where should i start? Thank you.
