Default Carrier (UPS, USPS, FEDEX) configuration question, how to split packages...

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a client who sells steel targets. Obviously, they are pretty heavy and there is a moment that if a customer orders a certain quantity of targets, since the weight goes up, the shipping price also goes up very high.  If he manually splits the order into several smaller lighter packages, the total cost of shipping is cheaper.

He only sells and ships inside the USA.

I want to know if using the following default carrier modules, there's a way for PrestaShop to choose which carrier is the cheapest but also taking into account the posibility of splitting a very heavy order into several smaller lighter packages to lower the shipping cost.

These are the versions of PS and modules I'm using:

PrestaShop v1.6.1.1

Module: Connect to UPS v1.4.0
Module: Connect to USPS v1.3.5
Module: Connect to Fedex v1.6

Any help in how to configure these settings would be greatly appreciated.  If these default modules don't have this capability, my customer is willing to purchase modules that would do the splitting packages (if needed) and calculation to obtain and show the cheapest shipping price for his customers.

Thanks!

Sergio
