Modify order validation process

Hi I'm totally new to PrestaShop. I was given a task with very limited time frame. I installed PrestaShop read some files but I couldn't figure this out.

 

I need to add one field in order proccess (probably step 4), modify the class which is controlling this process and add validation for that field. If im not mistaken I'll need to do following:

 

- add input field into the mark-up (how do I distinguish step 4 from for example step 2)

- find which PHP file and method controll the validation

- which Ajax call sends data to PHP (mentioned above)

 

The field should accept a special code (sale code for example).

This is to have a basic overview. You will have to add your own custom field type, additional validations and display it in BO.
