price calculation per category

Hi, 

 

I have a script that automatically imports products to a 1.6.0.11 shop. the script calculates the retail price from the wholesales price of the xml (eg. for category computers /.90) 

What I want to do is to have different percentege per price rage

eg

For category computers and for price range 1~100$ /0.90 .

For category computers and price range 101~1000 /0.95.

 

I have found Catalog price rules but don't know if it can be done from there. 

It also be done in reverce (since I don't see a way to surplus the price)

My question is can this be done based on a price range and not atributes or features?
