Make Free Gift unavailable for purchase

Hi,

 

i'm having an issue with one of my client's stores. they offer a free gift whenever a customer purchases from a particular manufacturer, and all that is working fine. However i had noticed that customers can click on the free gift and add more to cart, and also that it shows up in the customers feed as popular products. 

 

I've tried a few methods such as:

1. set the product to unavailable for purchase

2. set product visibility to catalog/ search only/ nowhere

 

However, they all end up with no free gift being added when that manufacturer is added to cart. 

 

although it's easy to just add a clause in the product description that this product is not for purchase, is there any way that we can set the free gift to not be available for purchase as there have been some customers adding the free gift to the cart trying to get it. 

 

*Sorry if something like this has already been discussed but i couldn't find anything online regarding this.

For free gift you should use a paid module. There is not possible to set a common product not available for purchase and have it than into the cart rules.

 

The module gift let's you define products a part from the catalaog for to have them as a gift.

Didn't you read the answer ? This option is not available by this way. You need to buy a module.
