Products per page & decide product arrangement

Hey forum!

 

I have 2 difficulties trying to configure my shop.

 

1. I want to show 24 products per page, when viewing a category. And i want the choices to be 24 or 48. I found this topic on stackoverflow, but i can't seem to get it to work. When trying to edit the FrontController.php file.

2. I want to be able to define to arrangement of the products, when viewed in a category. So i can choose the most exciting products to be shown first. Are there any way to do this? Or a work around maybe??
