I'm new at Prestashop.
Where can I translate the words of the front page like "categories" and "new products"?
I can't find it.

You should find this strings in the translate Modules (drop-down) section. This are blocks,every block is separately translated.

Ok, so:
Go to the Translation tab in Tools;
Select in the drop down "Modules translation";
Push the "Expand all fieldset" button;
Make a browser search on "blockcategories" in the page;
It should find a form with "prestashop - blockcategories - 15 expressions (___)";
The last string in this form is the name of the block (which is displayed as the title of the block on the front page).

The same with other strings too.
The frontpage block are named with a "block...." in the name, except the "Featured products", it is named "homefeatured" in the language module.
