tingo
please verify if module called "mail alerts" is installed and enabled - it's necessary for receiving emails when someone will order in your online store I have a similar problem. My mail alerts work just fine up until a couple of months ago, and the emails stop comming. Apparently even the emails to the customers stopped coming. I have tried to reinstall and activate the module, BUT it still doesn't work... I have looked at the Advanced parametres and changed the e-mail settings, tested it and it works just fine. But still no mail alerts... What can I do? I have tried for months to get som help at the Swedish Forum, but with no luck. Please help
prestatent
Hi My mail alerts work just fine up until a couple of months ago, and the emails stop coming. Did something happen a couple of months ago, eg - did you change hosting? - upgrade a module? - did your hosting company change something, for example PHP version? - mail change from using php mail function to SMTP? - is your email routed through your company network? We had a similar issue in that our company moved to outlook for mail and suddenly mails weren't being received by customers or us. Another thing you could check is the access logs for your site to see if there is anything in these.

My hosting company made some upgrades a couple of months ago, most likely something to do with the PHP version I have changed the mail to SMTP Where can I find the access log? prestatent
If you've changed mail to SMTP, I would assume you have also put in your SMTP details in this screen in Backoffice->Advanced Parameters->Email. Also on this screen, click the radio button "Set my own SMTP parameters. For advanced users ONLY". tingo
Yes I have. Filled in all the info and tested the configuration with good results. But still no mail alerts...
prestatent
What are you using for smtp, we use Mailgun for example. If you have access to the SMTP mail queues, you may be able to identify the issue. Is your email going through your company network? If so, does your organisation filter out spam as your emails may be junked. Another thing to check is that your IP is whitelisted. The main question really is if your mail is going through a company network or not?
tingo
I don't know what smtp I use. We're using a tiny company for our hosting - Crossnet.net, so everything goes through them. When the troubles started I asked for their help, and they check all the logs and found nothing. At their end everything looks fine. I'm not sure about company network, but as far as I know we have no spam filter. Where can I check if the IP is whitelisted?
prestatent
Your IT department should be able to check if the IP address of where your mail is being sent from (SMTP server) is whitelisted. I would also ask the IT dept to check their junk and spam folders. A couple more questions: 1. Why did you change to SMTP? 2. As a test, can you change back to PHP mail function to see if the mail works again?
tingo
I'll talk to them again and see if they can find anything. I changed to smtp when I first started to have problems with the mail alerts, as a suggestion from the IT guys. I'll try to switch back to php and see what happens. prestatent
Ok. Let me know how you get on. I do think the IT dept should be looking into this a little more as they should have access to the SMTP server and mailboxes.
tingo
IT FINALLY WORKS I'm not sure exactly what fixed it, because I still haven't heard beack from the IT guys. Big thanks for your suggestions and encouragement Ok. Let me know how you get on.
