on my product list page my listings are not inline with each other, some are above a bit and not in straight line with the rest of them. i have added a picture.

You need define a fixed height in the product title,

 

Edit the file: /themes/default/css/product_list.css

In the class: #product_list li .center_block h3 { ... }
