Common color attribute group for filtering

Recommended Posts

Hi

We are creating a new shop. We are having many products, and each product have its own color attribute group. each attribute color group have around 30 different colors each, and every color in every group have its own name. So this end up with thousand of colors.

We would like to link each color to a "common" color group with only 12 colors, like main colors for filtering.

So in the layered navigation it should be possible to filter for all red color shades...

We have tried to add this common color group to the combination so it would be a combination of two colors groups. but this isn´t really working.

Does anybody know a workaround for this? Is there any module for this, or is this strictly custom work.?

Its a bit hard to explain, I hope it makes sence. And i hope somebody can help out with a good advice.

Thanks on beforehand.

I have now found a solution to this problem...

I was thinking if it was possible to add a feature to a combination, then it would possible to make a feature group called "color shades" and then tag them in a each combination.

And after some searching, I found a module that does the trick: http://addons.prestashop.com/en/administration-tools-prestashop-modules/8319-olea-features-combinations.html?search_ab=2

only one little issue, it dosn´t seem to work with "layered navigation module" .. but one step closer..

I have a similar need.  We have different color names per product.  For example, one item will have a color "oatmeal" while another will have a color "almond".  We want to use the color filter so that the color "biege" will show these similar colors.

Anyone found a solution to this?

Same wondering here, could you please give the module name? And have you found a better solution since then ?

Thanks

Hi,

We can propose to you this filter module: https://addons.prestashop.com/en/search-filters-prestashop-modules/93173-live-filter-pro-real-time-filtering.html

What you can do for your use case is

1. Create a Feature called "Color" in your backoffice

2. Assign all products that have an attribute shade of "red" also the value "Red" for the Feature "Color"; products that have attribute shade of "Blue" also the value "Blue" for the Feature "Color"; and so on for all your color groups

3. The Live Filter, will auto-detect the feature "Color", group and display a filter named "Color" with the options  "Red", "Blue" and any other color groups you assign to your products

Thanks a lot!

One question, I what the customer to select the color filter as a squared colour like the attribute filter.

And also detect the simple products that has this colour as feature (not attibute because simple products doesnt have atributes)

Could you share a link for this a demo to check this?

Thansk,

Hi,

I'll answer here also for your other post (on the italian thread):

1. For features there isn't a color square as for attributes, that would require customization that we can do if you want, by default only text will be displayed only text - e.g "Red", "Blue" etc.

2. The filter will display option "Red" (feature) and any products that have feature red will be displayed -> if they have color attribute or not;

3. Attached video example with group for colors "Orange" and "Red" in group "Red", but with Feature named "Color Group" to differentiate from the attributes:livefilter_color_group.thumb.gif.4ea8c2a7b267d9b9bfd1b74676961d5e.gif
