Prestashop search is very poor

Why the Prestashop search engine is very poor? You have to write almost the exact title to get the search result. Is there a way to improve it or change it into another search engine?

Perhaps changing the settings here would help:

back office -> preferences -> search -> search

 

For instance, minimum word length.  mine is 3.

This is the default setting, it's already set to 3. I mean that the searching engine is not smart at all. Magento search system is much better.

How can we change the search function and which is the best one?

then go use magento, and don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out....just kidding, sort of...

look, ps comes with basic stuff and advanced stuff, all for free...but for search then you will need a paid solution...for most the basic works fine, for others if they find it lacking then they will need to kick in a few bucks.

you can of course take the free stuff and improve it yourself, heck it might be so good you can sell it....

I'm using 1.6.0.12 and mine works great.  Dunno if it's the version, or the fact I use tags on most everything.  dunno...
