Help with changes to template

Hello

How do I change the colour of the black banner thing at the very top?

Also how do I change the colour of the black part of the cart, search box,and horizontal menu.

I think I know it has to be done in global.css, but there is so much stuff there I don't want to be changing the wrong parts, as I am new to all this.

If you can tell me which lines to look for that would be a great help

The top banner color is defined in themes/YOUR-THEME/css/global.css around line 5501 you will find

 

header .nav {

    background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #333;

}

 

Change the #333 for color of your choice.

Yes managed to work some of them out

 

How do I change the colour of the horizontal menu, I have changed the "hover" colour so know how to do that...but would like to change the grey?

In themes/default-bootstrap/css/modules/blocktopmenu/css/superfish-modified.css

 

around line 13 you will find

.sf-menu {
    background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #f6f6f6;
    border-bottom: 3px solid #e9e9e9;
    padding: 0;
    position: relative;
    width: 100%;
}

you can change the #f6f6f6 to the color you want
