OK I'm running version 1.5x.

 

I want to find a way to be able to utilize attributes that don't require a quantity.

Made up Example

So I offer product "A" that has once drop down where you can select male or female. I only want that attribute to contain a quantity.

 

Now I would like to use another drop down or radio buttons (doesn't matter how) that let's you pick from a list of colors. These colors are unlimited and require no quantity.

 

So instead of seeing in quantity after seting combinations it won't list

Male - white 0

Male - green 0

Male - red 0

And so on.

 

Rather color is not taken into consideration other than on invoice. But quantity order is just subtracted from male or female. I don't want to have to set each color to let's say 20 for everything when I can't make that many but rather have quantity removed from a pool not 10 colors for each male/female

 

Is this possible at all? Is there a module, hack, etc that I can do/use?

 

Using customization text fields confuses some of my customers but it the only way I can do this as of now. Thus I lose some orders over them needing to figure out to enter color then click save then add to cart. It's a hassle.
