Replace subcategory image with fontawesome in product list

Hi,

I am trying to remove the subcategory images from product list. Also if possible to change it to fontawesome. Can some help that what code change needs to be done to achieve that.

In image: i want to remove red marked images, and want to place fontawesome at blue marked place.
