Show tax on products ex tax changes back to inc tax automatically

I have a strange problem:

Whenever i set the Price Display to display the price without taxes in the backend it seems to work fine in the homefeatured module, but in the products it will show the ex VAT price for about a second and then switches to the inclusive of VAT price.

i have used the latest version of the product.tpl template if i select the price to display both inc tax and ex tax this works well.

Can someone help?
