Can't disable a color?

I can see you can disable a product if it gets discontinued by a supplier, but can't see either in the back end or in the API where you can disable a variant such as a color eg if a supplier stops making the light blue one?

Every cart I've ever worked with does this, if prestashop can't, please let there at least be a module? <insert prayer>

wow, ok I'm guessing from the silence that you can't. What an oversight.

What do people do when an option is discontinued, disable the whole product, then re-create a new one, all with the same barcodes?

Only alternative I guess is to completely delete that option, but then I suppose you lose sales data. Messy?

Hi Paul, thanks for the reply.

I see that deleting the variant is an option, but (I'm guessing) that would delete the data for reporting purposes from the database (also if at some stage in the future you want to relist that color you have to re-enter it)?

202ecommerce has indicated that the enable/disable function is not available via Prestashop's API
