How to import products?

Recommended Posts

I have an .xls file with 3000+ products. There are some columns defined(item, name, color, picture, etc.).

Is there any possibility to upload the images via ftp and then import the product list directly to my site?
If the answer is yes, how can i tell each product to go to a specific category, and more than that, how could i define attributes and how can i set the price, etc?

save your .xls it as csv(comma delimited) and go to tools at your backend and import – then some little setting, see attachment.

for the images maybe you need to include in ur xls/csv file the url/link location < haven't try
for the category etc just include in your xls/csv file << its automatically assign to your category etc

i'm using ms excel 2003, prestashop 1.3.1 << it works

gud luck!

See the wiki. You need to create a CSV file in the correct format, then go to Tools > Import to upload and import the file.

Hi Rooky,
I have an import issue, which is when I import into my Spanish part of my web shop all products with letters that have accents do not load. See img.
can you help? Is there a file that these letters can be added to to solve this.
I am astonished no one else has come up with this problem. I have used several versions of PS and all are the same

There is absolutely nothing in any of these forums that I can find that is actually helpful with creating the CSV. Even the "samples" are useless. Can someone please link me or show me a csv that actually works? Every time I used the available fields and fill them out and import, i get about 30 errors, no explanation as to what is wrong or how to fix them or what to do.

If I could suggest STOP TELLING US HOW TO IMPORT, there are hundreds and hundreds of videos and blog posts but NOTHING about creating the csv.
