1.6 too slow, my mistake or hosting issue?

Hello! 

 

I am almost at the end of upgrading to 1.6.0.8 (coming from 1.4.5). 

Checking out the new version on the same hosting where the old is, I noticed that the new 1.6 is very much 'slower than the old one.

 

We agree that a not optimized hosting base is not good for prestashop, but with the old 1.4 I had no problem with speed. 

 

There are two possibilities: 

 

1) or it is all fault of the hosting

2) or is there some setting error in the shop 

 

In the first case I would change the hosting package, maybe with a management system cache. 

In the second case I ask for your help on what could be the problem, I am attaching a screenshot of the debug of the homepage.

Looks like there is a slow module attached to your header. Try to disable these module one after one to know which one is slow.

By the way, try to update to 1.6.0.9 because your version has a bug concerning modules that have overrides.

it looks like you were right, i've disabled the menu module and this is the result so far.

You're not the first one complaining about slow menu module. You should find some helps on forum I think, or ask the developper of the menu for advises.

I'll do that for sure, but there is still something strange:

 

All modules active                                           >>>   Load time: 5095 ms   (first image)

With menu module off                                      >>>  Load time: 777 ms   (second image)

then if I put the menu module active again       >>>  Load time: 5723 ms    (that is more that the first image)

then if I put the menu module off again            >>>   Load time: 515 ms

 

I see some strange variation of the load time, is it due to the server busy status?

It can be the server busy status but also prestashop cache or php code cache.
