Both id_guest and id_customer are not set in the cooky

Hi, I am new to prestashop, so I am bit confused

 

We have a problem with a prestashop module. At some point the module checks both id_guest and id_customer (taken from the $context->cookie) whether they are unsigned. The problem is that they are not set at all. So my question is:

 

Is this a correct behaviour or is it an issue with the configuration or is it a bug?

 

Update: The $context is taken from the module class, which extends ObjectModel
