Unable to complete checkout with Paypal module

I am currently using PS version 1.5.4.1 and Paypal module version 3.7.2 with express checkout.

 

I am able to successfully checkout from the website and go to Paypal, where I am able to fill out all payment info. However at this stage I am prompted to click continue to return to the website and confirm payment. When returning to the website I am directed back to the shopping cart summary / addresses page and there is is no button on that page for me to complete checkout.

 

I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling the Paypal module and have also tried an earlier version but the problem persists. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
