Upgrading version 1.5.3.1 to version 1.6

Hello everyone,

 

I would like to upgrade my PrestaShop website, which is currently under version 1.5.3.1, to version 1.6.

 

In the meantime, I would also like to change my theme and use the default theme of version 1.6 as my new theme. 

 

How shall I proceed ? I've seen different solutions on the web :

 

- 1 - Use a module called "one click auto upgrade"

- 2 - Do it manually

 

The problem is that when I use those methods my website is all messed up. What advice would you give me ?
