carplu Posted April 25, 2014 Share Posted April 25, 2014 Hi all, maybe i put this in the wrong forum... if so ... sorry for that my question is this one... what is the best way to customize a theme for a PS1.6 store that is already live? so we have a live store running 1.5.x it needs to be updated to 1.6 and get a new theme and move to another server we could customize the theme on a demo install and after it is finished back up the store and move the backup of the live store to another server, install the new theme, check if everything is still ok and after that change the ip in the DNS but in meanwhile new orders could have come in that won't be in the new store when the dns is updated so what is best practice here?? thanks Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

carplu Posted April 25, 2014 Author Share Posted April 25, 2014 i hear you... so move the site to the new server and change ip in dns so it is live on the new server after that set up a subdirectory or subdomain that connects to the same database and customize the new theme there when finished move the theme over to the live shop is that correct?
