HavanA
Is it possible to change the way the search function searches? For now when two ore more words are typed in the search box, the search returns results that matched one of these words. I would like to have it return only results that matched all the words. If possible, how do I change it?
stottycabanas
HavanA, the standard search does match on all entered search criteria. If you go to my site (see signature) then try the following 3 searches: Hand Hand zebra Hand zibra That will illustrate how the search works. HavanA
Hmmm... That is exactly how it should work, but in my site it return different results. When I enter "HP 57" it is returning all the HP's first... (without "57") www.asadin.nl/presta
stottycabanas
HavanA, your search is behaving as Prestashop have designed it (although that design may not be intuitive!). If you type just HP, there are 68 results, if you type HP 57, you get 10 results, i.e. those with matching words that begin with 'HP' and '57'. If you select one of the 10 products returned, you will see in the description a number of entries for 'HP Offiecjet J 57xx' - that's where it is matching both HP and 57. If you search on HP 573, you get 4 results, i.e. those where the description contains 'HP Offiecjet J 573x'. Hope that clarifies. HavanA
Dave, thanks for shining a light on this matter. I understand now. Is there any chance I could force prestashop to only match all exact words?
stottycabanas
Hi HavanA, have a look at this thread: http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/298125-searching-result-is-not-accurate-can-anyone-help/ But beware of possible performance implications.
