nexgenappliances
I wanted to try a new theme in my 1 year old prestashop site. Installing the theme totally destroyed my site and I spent 3 hours rebuilding the old theme. Turns out our menu structure is not compatible with the new theme. Since I spent money on it, I would like to use it. However, I dont want to take my site offline for days while I figure out the new theme and associated modules. Whats the best way to deploy themes without blowing up your store? One would assume that since presta has a theme manager, where one can pick themes, that you would be able to install a theme, configure it, and then freely switch between installed themes. As I now know, this is not the case what so ever. (huge fail btw, stupid to have a theme manager if you cant have different themes installed and configured). So how do others with existing stores transition into new themes?
vekia
if i were you modifications like that i will do on localhost. i mean: run some server app (like xampp) on your PC, download all your prestashop filesystem and work there. when everything will work as you expect - upload everything to your remote, also database.
