search results missing when using CSV import vs BO tags

I have created some products manually using the BO and gave them TAG's

 

I have created some products using a CSV upload with the same TAG's

 

when doing a search of the site, the manually loaded product appears as a result when searching RED

 

when doing a search of the site, the CSV loaded product does not appear as a result when searching RED

 

they both have the TAG red in the BO? all qty's are good etc.

 

if  I go into the BO and delete the CSV product's TAG red and re-enter it there in the BO, the search will then find it?

 

tried refreshing the smarty cache, didn't do anything.

 

any ideas? I certainly don't want to manually redo hundreds of tag's!

OK found it the hard way. had to rebuild the search index on the search tab. Everythign shows up now like it should.
