Prestashop 1.5.4 template with Prestashop 1.5.6

Hi Forum Citizens,

 

I would like to get some clarity on Prestashop version and Prestashop engine compatibility related to themes.

 

Am I correct that big changes to Prestashop engine/core are made with big releases like 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5?

And that all the themes made for Prestashop 1.5.x would work also with Prestashop 1.5.6?

 

I'm asking this, because there is a theme I want to buy from templatemonster.com and even though they say that they have 24/7 support. Then apparently it doesn't apply for the weekends and I can't wait the whole weekend to get an answer from them.

 

Anyway lets take this one as an example http://www.templatemonster.com/prestashop-themes/46849.html

and it states PrestaShop Engine: 1.5.4.1 PrestaShop Compatibility: 1.5.x

 

Does that mean that I can safely use that particular theme with Prestashop 1.5.6?

 

If that is so, then could you also explain me how come themes made for Prestashop 1.5.4.1 are compatible with all the 1.5.x Prestashop version. Should't stating 1.5.4.1 mean that theme is compatible up to 1.5.4.1 and then fails with any later Prestashop version?

I can tell you I'm using a TM template  for PrestaShop v1.5.0.17 with PS  v1.5.6.0.

Thank you for the answer. I think I will just take a faith of leap and buy my template as I can't waste a whole Sunday on waiting
