Option for free gift

Is there a way I can configure an option to allow for a free gift for a specific product? It could be either a checkbox on the product page a customer can select, or a coupon code. A free option is what I am looking for.

 

This is not a product I carry in my store, so I believe I am unable to use the free gift option as a cart rule. And I couldn't figure out how to offer a check box for this on the product page. 

 

I tried creating a an attribute, but I only saw an option for a radio button, and it is checked by default without an option to uncheck it.

 

Any help is greatly appreciated!
