When I try to turn on the Cache I get these errors:

 

To use Memcached, you must install the Memcache PECL extension on your server.

To use APC, you must install the APC PECL extension on your server.

To use Xcache, you must install the Xcache extension on your server.

 

Is this something I need to do, or do I need to call my ISP? 

 

On a related note, could this have something to do with the Layered Navigation module that I can't get to show up on my home page?

I contacted my ISP and they say that this is "not supported", so will PrestaShop work OK without this cache, or do I need to look for another ISP?

It will but it will render much slower. Layered navigation has nothing to do with it. And you can't show your layered navigation on home page without heavy modification of this module. It was originally designed to work in a side column with category layout.
