Login to test shop failing

I want to upgrade my prestashop 1.5.3 to 1.5.4 and to that end, I decided to copy my current store to a test store and work out any problems with the installation.

 

I followed the steps in the System Administrator Guide right up to 4-b: "Log in to your back office". When I went to log in, I saw the email & password login area as usual but, when I entered my email and password, the page refreshed itself and I didn't go anywhere. There were no error messages or clues as to why it isn't working.

 

If anyone has some idea how to fix this, I would appreciate some help.

When I hit a similar problem, it turned out to be that the url for the back office is case sensitive. I was entering it all in lower case, but some folders on the server had names which began with a capital letter.

 

Worth a try, anyway.
