Timeouts in Back Office

Using 1.5.4.1 Back Office, I have hit a situation where any updates I try & make to products, categories, manufacturers, etc. just time out when I click Save. I can add new products, etc., so it's not as if I'm completely locked out from the database - but once added, I can't modify or delete them.

 

I don't have this problem when modifying e.g. attributes, customers and other parameters, and I've been happily modifying products up until a couple of days ago.

 

Any clues on how to fix this? Is it likely to be an issue with my hosting service?

Thanks for responses. I don't get a blank screen, it just stays on the same back office page when I click Save. After about 4 minutes, I get a 'connection to the server was reset' message. There are no errors reported in the logs on my host.

 

Sometimes, despite the timeout, the updates do actually get applied.

 

Internet connection working fine for everything else.
