API - Can it trigger email?

We use an API for reading and writing shipment history from and to Prestashop.


That api can post back the tracking #, and mark the order as Shipped back in Prestashop.


The issue we're trying to work on:

When the API sets the order to Shipped, no email is triggered from Prestashop


If you open the order, edit the tracking # and save, an email is triggered.



Can the API trigger this automatic email in Prestashop?
