Responsive Interface Tied To Image Size

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I'm planing to migrate from zen cart to prestashop.

I've browse tons of templates (templatemonster, themeforest, etc), and still can't find one, which can suit my needs.

Basically, product image size I'm using is: 750 x 451 pixels. Most of presta templates have ether square or vertical rectangle images. I've contacted few theme developers, and I wasn't able to hear the answer from them: Is it possible to have responsive interface with horizontal rectangle images (750x451pixels) ? Can I purchase any template I like, and adopt to my needs? Or it is something I need to be aware upfront?

I heard that in presta you tied to your template.

Hi Steve,

I know autumn theme, in fact I've contacted developer of that theme about month and a half ago, here his reply:

" I checked your current website, unfortunately the theme is using vertically rectangle images and I think it's not suitable for yours. Because of the responsive design I made their width fixed. So, the theme currently is not suitable for horizontally rectangular images. Because all responsive codes and maths are based on current width."

I've contacted many others from themeforest, and looks like problem remains...There is always an opportunity to go custom for custom payment)))

I hope it will be solved any time soon without additional payments.

You can set the width to auto and have .img {width 100%; height 100% ;) within the css that would allow your image to grow and shrink depending on the screen size. So portrait or landscape images would make no difference

This is true. You can definitely do this with PrestaShop but most templates are not built this way, it would probably have to be customized to fit your needs.
